Course Description: A specification outlines the technical requirements and performance expectations of equipment intended to be used in a particular application. In this course, we will discuss industry standard elements included in contract specifications, focusing particularly on the language used when specifying engine generator sets for emergency power applications. The course is free of charge.
Objectives: After this course, you will be able to:
1. Describe the difference between Prescriptive, Performance and Proprietary specifications.
2. Identify the relevant parts of a specification and what they cover.
3. Explain key points of Parts 1: General, 2: Product, and 3: Execution.
4. Explain how specification language is influenced by codes and standards.
