Hurricane Rated Enclosure Design Considerations

Course Description: Enclosures protect your backup power system. In this course, we explore the construction requirements of a hurricane rated generator enclosure. We will also look at the codes and standards that guide both the design and installation of generator enclosures for Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zones, missile impact rated enclosures, as well as other important requirements. This course is free of charge.

Objectives: After this course, you will be able to:
1. Explain the applicable codes & standards for hurricane rated and missile impact enclosures based on risk category / occupancy type and project location.
2. Identify enclosure testing requirements for Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) along with proper documentation requirements.
3. Specify other beneficial enclosure requirements necessary for a weather-protective and sound attenuated package.
